, hagersto hagerstown. chilly morning in the 40s in the valley. fog western maryland, west virginia. over the fog the sky is beginning to clear out. as the day progresses the fog will dissipate. increasing sunshine. mostly sunny for the primary election day tomorrow. on wednesday, again, up near 80 with sunshine, low humidity. could get more much needed rain on thursday. jerry, how is the monday commute now? >> watch out for the fog. but certainly not an issue in town. a new traffic pattern to tell you about. 395 north bound, 14th street bridge. far left lane is taken away. this is i think the fifth phase. it's the left lane closed up. veer a little bit to the right. you can exit to the g.w. parkway. you start to lose the left lane. three lanes will get you by. everybody is doing it within fine fashion. see if that's the case elsewhere this morning. making a trip along 66. tom mentioned the fog. saw some out in manassas. a truck dumped a bunch of gravel. how are we doing on the rail? fine. two delays, camden 841 and 843. under ten minutes each. joe? >> all right. jerry, thanks so much. >>

that are going to continue until, well probably getting picked up about now. 95 northbound in virginia, seeing everybody moving well but the growing volume. back to you in the studio. >>> we're following a developing story out of northern california this morning where a massive fire ball is still burning out of control in the middle of a residential town in san bruno, a neighborhood south of san francisco. the massive explosion and fire ball destroyed more than 50 homes and killed at least one person. fire investigators say it appears to be a natural gas line explosion. dozens of people were injured and many more are still unaccounted for. this morning some neighbors are describing how they escaped the flames. >> i had trouble getting out, i had to -- car was -- i have a car in the driveway but it is burning already. this car was in the garage and able to get in it and i had to lift the garage door manually and jump in and ride out through the fire. and it kind of melted the tail lights a little bit. >> everyone who lives in the immediate area is being evacuated. the cause of the explosion is

in suburbs and rural areas. down to zero visibility in martinsburg, west virginia. parts of the northern shenandoah valley to culpepper, visibility a quarter mile. not much fog around. chilly morning. eastern shore now the low 60s. and the sky is broken up a bit. we have a partly cloudy start to the day. fog lifting by mid-morning. we'll be warming up into the low 80s with low humidity. breeze out of the northwest. 50s tomorrow morning. low 80s tomorrow with lots of sunshine. this pattern continues on wednesday. some clouds moving in on thursday. weak area of low pressure coming through with a front. showers during the afternoon and effect hours on thursday night. let's check traffic for monday morning. how is it looking? >> good morning, everyone. new traffic pattern. this may be more manageable than we have seen in the past. it will be the far left lane scheduled to be closed in the latest phase. right now obviously very, very light. let's pop over and see how we're doing through northeast. so far so good. other than that, nice and quiet as monday morning gets under way. >> nice and qu

to the west including portions of maryland and north central virginia. close-in counties here in washington not under the dog fog advisory but you can see from the live shot, we are getting some fog. it will take some sunshine to work the fog out of the picture. by mid- to late morning, we'll start to see sunshine across the area. againly a good-hooking forecast. currently, 64 degrees at reagan national. -- generally, a good-looking forecast. warm than yesterday. rain showers have since departed to the east and it will be a nice couple of days around here with our trend to be lots of sunshine later this afternoon and temperatures in the low 80s. if you are going to the beaches next weekend, we'll talk about that coming up. but that is not for today. >> we see where your head is actually. >> yes, i'm still there. >> understandable. let's check in with julie wright and get a look at traffic. >> not locking so bad. the lane are open if you are traveling down south at the wilson bridge. top stretch. beltway behaving nicely. no incidents reported leaving college park working your way past unive

is down the a quarter mile. panhandle of west virginia, western maryland. watch out for that. generally we don't have much fog. 64 in washington. low to mid-60s near the bay. 50s in prince george's. and we'll see highs today reaching the low 80s with lots of sunshine. back by this afternoon after a partly cloudy morning. low humidity in place. and tomorrow good weather for the primary day election. we'll have afternoon highs into the low 80s. more of the same on wednesday. although we may get a few passing showers on thursday, there will be a front coming through with a few showers. it will end thursday night and dry out for the weekend. a look at the weekend coming up in a few minutes at 5:21. then we'll look at what's happening in the tropics later this hour. stay tuned for that. jerry, good morning. how is the man traffic? >> this i hope will be much more manageable than a couple in the past. 14th street bridge, the far left lane that is now closed leaving three lanes to the right. but have no worries. you'll still be able to exit to the g.w. the closure will begin after i cross on to t

virginia on friday. he may be traveling with a woman in a 2008 sill very kia spectra with maryland tag number 1 ewb 10. the vehicle is using a spare tire in place of a missing tire. >>> and it was high drama at the adams morgan day. a police officer shot and killed a dog. sarah simmons joins us with the details. >> reporter: it started when two dogs got into a fight in a crowded street. a pit bull attacked a poodle on 18th street yesterday afternoon. bystanders tried to separate them but both dogs reportedly bit at least one person. eventually a police officer stepped in, threw the pit bull down some stairs, reportedly, and shot it. >> two dogs were passing by and suddenly they jump up on each other and they were fighting. >> the officer is a canine officer. so that's probably as good as you can get in someone knowing about dogs. two, the dog was posing a significant threat. >> reporter: the mayor said when the dog was shot it was not near any people. there is conflicting reports on who pulled the trigger. the officer is said to first try using a

there. farther to the west, still in the 60s in much of western maryland. panhandle of west virginia and shenandoah valley. it seems almost wintry. these are the current dew points. they are in the 40s. this is the driest day we have had in a long time, since even about have the summer. we have dry weather all the way down to the atlantic beaches too. this continues to come in on some northwest breezes. these are the latest wind gusts. they have been around 20 to 25 miles an hour gusts. as we look at the other temperatures, out of the mountains, still in the low 60s. eastern shore, east of the bay and away from the waters, still near 70 degrees. all this coming from high pressure, which continues to move in off the great lakes. it is assisted by an area of low pressure spinning away over eastern new england and northern new england. that lull combined with this area of high pressure giving us a little bit of blustery wind. these are the remnants of tropic tropical storm hermine. this high pressure is going to hold forth for the next couple of days. some of the moisture will be along
